For Windows 10 and 11

Every command, one keypress away.

KnobDeck is a hotkey overlay launcher. Press a key, pick an action from a dial or deck floating over the app you're in, and get straight back to work.

Dial

A radial menu of wedges around a hub. Each action keeps a direction, so after a day you pick it from muscle memory without reading. Best for launchers and per-app command rings.

Deck

An 8×8 grid of 64 cells, like a stream deck in software. Open it with a hotkey, pin it on screen as a sticky panel, or open it from your phone.

Where the dial comes from

KnobDeck's dial started as our own design: actions on an inner ring, with folders opening an outer ring. Radial menus are hard to get feeling right, though, and the open-source Kando project by Simon Schneegans has spent years of releases refining exactly that. So rather than reinvent it, we based the on-screen dial on Kando: the overlay's pointer handling, layout and drawing are adapted from Kando's menu code under its MIT license, and several of the bundled dial themes come from Kando's theme collection, credited to their authors.

Everything behind the overlay is KnobDeck's own work, written without Kando as a reference: the Rust engine, profiles that follow the foreground app, the actions, the deck, the plugin system and the phone remote. If you want a standalone pie menu, Kando is excellent. Go give it a star.

Built for the shortcuts you use a hundred times a day.

Profiles that follow you

KnobDeck watches the foreground app and swaps in the matching profile, by process name or window title. One hotkey, the right actions for each app.

Built-in actions

Keyboard shortcuts, launching apps, files and folders, running commands, media keys and seeking, system actions and web pages. No plugin needed.

Native plugins

Plugins are small native executables built with the Rust SDK. They add live actions for Discord, OBS, VS Code, Zoom and more, with no Node.js or runtime to install.

Your phone as a deck

Open the deck from a phone or tablet browser on the same network. Approve the device once, then tap actions from across the room.

Stays out of the way

The overlay appears over every window and closes as soon as you pick an action. KnobDeck lives in the tray and can start with Windows.

Folders one level deep

Link a slice to a folder for a second set of actions, so a full profile stays one or two flicks away.

Plugins for the apps you already use.

Install a .knobdeck bundle and its actions show up in the editor, ready to drop on a dial or deck.
